I wasn't sure what to expect when I asked Catherine Holm to assist me through a coaching/editing phase of my fifth historical novel, but I was not disappointed. Catherine was particularly helpful in expanding my imagination by forcing me to look at the manuscript through the eyes of a reader. "People are voyeurs at heart, and want to see the whole picture. Take them where they can't normally go," Catherine said. This little piece of advice remained in the back of my mind as together we edited my original draft. I'm ecstatic to report I've received a contract from a recognized Romance Writer's of America publisher, have keen interest from a New York agent, who's asked to see the entire manuscript, and another RWA publisher has asked to see the entire. Catherine asks the right questions in the right places, forcing the writer to rethink their original thoughts or venture further into the scene through vivid descriptions and immaculate detail.
